United Singhs outplayed California Eagles 68-48 in the opening match of the second day of the Bathinda-leg of the Wave World Kabaddi League 2014 played at Hockey Stadium, Rajindra College on Saturday.

Bhatinda, October 11: United Singhs outplayed California Eagles 68-48 in the opening match of the second day of the Bathinda-leg of the Wave World Kabaddi League 2014 played at Hockey Stadium, Rajindra College on Saturday. The win brought United Singhs on level with California Eagles at 14 points each, though United have played 12 matches as compared to 13 matches of the Eagles.

United Singhs’ star raider Gagandeep Nagra was in brilliant form with 17 raids while their stopper Sandeep Singh Sandhu had seven Stops and that helped United outplay Eagles by a huge margin of 20 points in the 49th match of the Wave WKL.

United Singh won the toss and earn the first raid point. With United Singhs’ stoppers showing good form as skipper Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Jagdish Singh and Jagtar Singh Jagga between them made six successful stops, United were off to a great start.

The Raiders from California Eagles were off-colour it seemed, though their stoppers Mikhail Jamaal Abdul Latif and Angrej Singh Punia did make a stop each. By the end of the first session, United with the additional help of Raider Gagandeep Nagra and Lovepreet Singh Sangha moved to 19-11 lead.

In the second Quarter, United Singhs continued their impressive teamwork as Gagandeep and Lovpreet Singh Sangha led the raiders with their successful three raids each and maintained the pressure on California Eagles. Stopper Sandeep, Baljit and Gurinder held the fort with one stop each. California Eagles did attempt a chase but failed to close in as only Baldev Singh earned five points through Raids. His teammate Sukhpal earned three points through successful raids. By the end of second quarter, United Singhs led 34-24.

In the third session, United Singhs’ Stoppers Sandeep (3), Baljeet (2) and Gurinder (1) were again in great form and put California Eagles under tremendous pressure and their Stoppers were unable to score a single point in the session.

By the start of the final quarter, United Singhs were 22 points ahead 55-33.

In the final quarter, United Singhs continued their dominance. Gagandeep, Lovepreet and Ravi carried forward their momentum and helped their complete a 68-48 win over California Eagles.
