Women Semi Final 1 – New Zealand Vs. Denmark – Kabaddi World Cup 2014

In the women’s semi final match it was the same match up as last year at World Kabaddi Cup with New Zealand taking on Denmark. New Zealand had size and better technique and it showed on the field. Denmark suffered some injuires during the match and at one point almost decided to stop playing. But the match continued and New Zealand won to advance to the finals against Indian Women. Women Semi Final 2 – India Vs. Pakistan – Kabaddi World Cup 2014

The second women’s semi final match took place between India and Pakistan. This was the same semi final as last years Kabaddi World Cup. Much like last year Indian women were too strong and fast for Pakistan. Pakistan’s Captain got stopped early and she did not raid afterwards. Indian Women kept coming and laid on the points. At the end India won the match and advance to the finals to play against New Zealand on Dec. 20th 2014. Women’s Final Kabaddi match will be played at 6:00pm IST. Lala Abaid Ullah excluded from Pakistan Kabaddi Team – Kabaddi World Cup 2014

Star raider Lala Obaidullah has been excluded from Pakistan’s kabaddi World Cup squad that reached India for the 5th edition of the mega event. When the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation officials were asked about the shock omission, they replied that the Punjab Sports Board is looking after the team this time.

Shafiq Chishti has been named the skipper, while other players include Akmal Shehzad, Muhammad Irfan, Rehman Ishtiaq, Muhammad Khan, Musharraf Javed, Khalid Bhatti, Mohsin Naseer, Muhammad Ramzan, Ali Shaan and Naeem Tahir.

Meanwhile, Madiha Lateef will lead the Pakistan women’s team which includes Saira Saeed, Neelam Riyaz, Sehrish, Nida Arshad, Saira Bano, Ammara Razzaq, Augusta Ajmal, Sadia Abdul Khaliq, Sumera Zahoor, Syeda Fareeda Khanam, Rukhsana Parveen and Zeenat Parveen.

5th World Kabaddi Cup 2014 – Schedule – Nov. 29th – Dec. 13th

CHANDIGARH: Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal on Friday, finalizing the schedule for 5th World Kabaddi Cup 2014 from Dec. 6th to Dec 20th, announced that its semifinals would be played in Punjab province of Pakistan.

The names of teams likely to participate include Pakistan, Argentina, USA, UK, Scotland, Canada, Seora Leon, Spain, Kenya and Denmark in men discipline whereas in women category teams form India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Kenya, UK, Malaysia, Denmark and Mexico would participate. These teams would fight for the total prize money of Rs. 6.97 crore out of which title winners in men and women categories would get Rs. 2 crore and Rs. 1 crore respectively. Second prize of Rs. 1 crore would be given to Runner up to men team whereas in women category it would be Rs. 51 Lakh.
It was also decided to organize opening ceremony at Jalandhar whereas Bathinda would witness the sparkling closing ceremony. Besides that Jalalabad, Chohla Sahib, Sangrur, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Rupnagar, Khanna and Mansa cities have been selected for other kabaddi matches. He sough conduct of dope tests of players to ensure drug free world cup and also approved the amount of Rs 30 lakh for the same.

To promote traditional games of Punjab, Badal asked the sports department to prepare a proposal to start Punjab Rural Games from this year which would not only boost the sports culture in the state but also give impetus to tourism. With a view to promote desi kushti (traditional wrestling) in the state, Deputy CM directed the cultural and sports department to contact with Pakistan Iran and Uzbekstan governments to send their wrestlers to India as Punjab has a great potential in this game.


Drug Test Results – World Kabaddi League – Banned Players

The Wave World Kabaddi League (Wave WKL), today announced the list of 23 players who were asserted to have committed anti-doping rule violations, either before the draft or during and out of competition tests in the WKL. Eleven players have been found to have violated the anti-doping regulations in the time since the start of the inaugural Wave WKL, according to the organisers.

A further 12 players were declared for adverse analytical findings by the WADA accredited laboratory, in the doping control out-of-competition tests at Ludhiana prior to the selection of the teams. The names of all 23 players will be publicly published shortly. The Wave WKL has in a historic move created history in sports by establishing a record of introducing stringent anti doping measures. It has conducted 464 doping control tests till the last set of matches held in Jalandhar.

Mr. Raman Raheja, Chief Executive Officer, World Kabaddi League said, “We had implemented doping control tests out-of-competition (OOC) as well as in-competitions (IC)”.In a stringent drive WKL conducted 191 doping control out-of-competition tests at Ludhiana prior to the selection of teams for the league. Out of them samples of 12 players were declared for adverse analytical findings by the WADA accredited laboratory. Their names will be publically published on the official website of WKL.

The Wave WKL commenced in-competition doping control tests from the inaugural league matches held in the United Kingdom (UK) from August 9, 2014. Thereafter WKL also implemented random out-of-competition tests to create a sense of responsibility and awareness among sportspersons that they could be tested anytime and anywhere.

The names of three other players, one from Out-of-Competition tests two from In-competition tests have not been declared intentionally as their cases are under notice period, but these names will also be announced after due process is completed.

The WKL CEO said that all results were managed in compliance with International Standards, respective players were given the opportunity to appear before the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Board, but many of the players waived off their right by not appearing before the board within the stipulated time period of 15 days.

The Wave WKL in accordance with WKL Anti-Doping Standard and WADA Code will impose necessary sanctions on these athletes. Mr. Raheja said that Wave WKL was in constant contact with WADA authorities and the details of athletes and respective adverse analytical findings have been shared with WADA Headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

Commenting on the findings and the announcement, Mr. Pargat Singh, Commissioner, World Kabaddi League stated, “Wave World Kabaddi league follows the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) objective ‘Play True’ and the doping control program developed for the World Kabaddi League (WKL) was athlete focused with the objective of providing confidence to athletes that they are competing on a ‘level playing field’ and to act as a deterrent to athletes and their support staff from competing unfairly and putting the athletes welfare at risk. Its secondary function was to test athletes to ensure that they are not competing whilst under the influence of performance enhancing substances or methods; and finally the program aimed to provide information relating to the doping control rules and procedures; and on the consequences of doping in Kabaddi.”
